Outlook - move/copy an email

A

Anyone for Coffee?

When I drag a item from one folder to another in Outlook the item is moved.

If I use ctrl or drag with the right mouse button I can copy the item.

Is it possible to make Copy the default behaviour?

This follows the Move/Copy convention of the Operating system. Default
drag to the SAME partition/drive will be a Move, dragging to a different
partition/drive will be a copy.

Meaning, 'No, it is not possible.'?

You can "invert" the action in the operating system but then it's
"broken" the other way. It's not an Outlook thing, it is an operating
system wide issue.

If you can teach yourself to always Right Click and Drag - then when you
get to the destination and let go of your mouse you will always be
prompted to choose either Move or Copy.

I can teach myself. But I'm an ISV and this is a customer request related to
an add-in. "It's a training issue" - was my response.
thanks anyway.

Interesting.
I think this is too large scope for my requirements.

Out of curiosity have you got a link to an msdn article (or similar) which
discusses this?

Sorry, I was thinking of the Shift key which "flips" the Move and Copy
in Explorer.
