Outlook on server

I am a relatively new user so could someone expain to me
how to use Outlook on 1 notebook and 1 Desktop with the same file
The notebook being portable.

Do i need a server with program and data files on it? How do I have server
backed up? Can someone recommend a server? I currenlty use Caronite.com to
back up existing files.

Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]

Outlook uses a .pst file to store all of its information and this file cannot be shared by 2 instances of Outlook at the same time. Putting a ..pst file on a network share for access is not supported. Moving the ..pst file between computers via a USB stick has its own issues.
