Outlook password change

I thought I knew how to handle this change. I didn't beleive I had a password
set for my Outlook 2002. I've had them several years ago. When i go to the
change password option (which I never get prompted for on startup) I leave
the "old password" blank and proceed to enter a new password. It tells me
that my password does not match. Again I thought that if there was a password
already, (which I'm not aware of) it would be requested when I opened Outlook.

Any thoughts?

Thank you,

Bill

Could the password have been set on an additional pst-file you have
connected?

Not to my knowledge. This all started when I imported the outlook.pst file to
my new PC and tried to open it. It asked for a password. since I couldn't get
around, I went back to my old PC and opened that same Outlook.pst with no
password requested. I then figured since the PST doesn't apparently have a
password, I'd assign one . When I went to assign a password to this file on
my old computer that didn't have a password, it too gave me the same
condition and that was that my password ( blank in this case) was incorrect.

Instead of importing the pst file, transfer it again and reconnect directly
via File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...
Does it prompt for a password now?
