I've recently rebuilt a pc and restored the pst of off the local disk,
however, the user insists that he had a second "offline" mail store. Is
there a txt file or alike for identifying path locations of outlook offline
files.

If the user is on Exchange, the offline file has a .ost extension. Otherwise, all Outlook data is in a .pst file. Search for either using Windows search and enable searching hidden files.
