Outlook POP3 Timeouts 0x8004210A

I have a Sympatico (DSL) account which has merged with Hotmail for mail
services. I have to use SSL for both POP3 and SMTP. However, everytime I
startup outlook for the first time, I try to download my email from three
different email accounts (All Sympatico). 1 or 2 of the three almost always
fails the first time it checks mail and then it is fine after that. The
problem is not present with Outlook Express.

Note: I am using Outlook XP.

Do you have a program that scans your incoming mail?

Hi Marco,
if you are using Norton Product, please check the "scan incommin and
outgoing Email" you have to disable this
if not post again, because maybe you have the change to solve the problem by
editing the registry

That is one thing I tried....I found the Norton issue online. However, I do
not use Norton Antivirus. I use etrust. However, just in case the same
applied to etrust I tried to disable incomming mail checking with etrust
prior to posting my original question. It did not fix my issue.
