Outlook problems - requesting info on patch

Hi there - I am monitoring a network of computers that are currently showing probs with outlook. they are running xp and are individually showing probs such as freezing on start up and one in particular today froze with an explanation of 'word cannot display requested font' @#*
could anyone pls shed some light? could it be the patch that was released recently is needed?
