Outlook.pst not found

I have Outlook 2003. I got this message 3 times (once 11 months ago and
twice in the last week) "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\Outlook.pst Could not be found"

Everything is lost: calendar, contacts and e-mails.

1.. How do I recover data?
2.. How is the best way to backup data for next time?
3.. How do I fix the problem?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Go to start > search then actually do a search for the "outlook.pst" file.
Once you find out what folder it's in, the next time you get that message,
if I remember correctly, I believe you can tell it where to find the file.
Why you're getting the message, I'm not sure, but you might want to make
sure you have plenty of hard drive space and you might want to run the
scanpst.exe program.

The easiest way to back up the file, is to use File Explorer, right click on
the file, drag it to another folder, then make a copy of it in the second
folder.

Also, I would suggest to move the pst to another place once you've found it.
I've heard that it can happen once and then that the file "outlook.pst" gets
deleted if it's stored in it's default place. So you might be better off
placing it somewhere else.

Good advice. Common FIles is not a proper location for a PST.

Highly unlikely. Outlook rarely, if ever, deletes a PST.
