Outlook .pst still too big after compacting

Paul

I've been having trouble for quite a while with the .pst file getting bigger
and bigger, even though I delete messages. I finally found the Compact
feature and ran it, but it only reduced the .pst file size from 723,488 to
679,473 Kb. I recently deleted 3 years' worth of email, and I know that was
far more than 44 MB.

Why is the file still so huge, and is there any way to start fresh based on
current folder contents? I am using Outlook 2000, Professional version.

Thanks.
Paul

Without examining your PST, it's hard to say.

You can always start fresh. Create a new PST, make it your delivery
location, then copy the content you wish to keep from the old PST to the
new.
