Outlook repeatedly downloads all messages on server.

How do I get Outlook to only download my messages once. I want to leave
messages on my server so that I can also check them at the office. Every
time I send and recieve it resends everything that is still on the server.

What do I change in the preferences?

something is causing the download information to not get saved or it gets
deleted. Is outlook closing properly? (look in task manager) are your
autosend/receive times too short that outlook is still checking mail when
the next check begins? (should never set it for less than every 8 - 10 min).

Well... I thought it worked. I made changes to have it check for mail every
15 min. It sat for an hour and 10 before I closed it. When I reopened
Outlook this morning, I am reloading 46 messages again. What do I do?

In addition to Diane's questions, what version of Outlook? DO you have
"Leave a copy of messages on the server" enabled?

Pavel Raska

I have exactly this problem with Outlook 2007 Trial (now I test it). And YES,
I have CHECKED leave messages on server (I need it). Never met this behaviour

Hello,

I am have the same problem as Pavel Raska. I also have Outlook 2007 (Office
2007 Pro). I also need to leave a copy of messages on my server so I can get
them at both office and home. It keeps downloading ALL of the messages every
single time. This problem only occured once or twice over the 5 years I was
doing that with my old version of Outlook 2002. Can anyone help?

Something is causing outlook to lose the record of which messages it
downloaded. Begin by insuring outlook closes properly - check Task manager
after closing it to see if outlook.exe is running.

** Please include your Outlook version, Account type, and Windows Version

And if Diane's advice doesn't help, start with a new mail profile.
