Outlook requires Ms outlook express 4.01 or greater ...

I have just added Outlook 2000 to my system from my Office CD.
The installation goes fine, but outlook then tells me that I need Outlook
Express.

The problem is that I have it already! According to the OE help, it is
version 6 sp2. I have a valid account setup, with inbox etc. in the default
locations.

The kb just advises me to install IE6. OK, except downloading the latest
version of IE results in an executable that refuses to run since I have
already got a more modern version of IE installed (via the update site).

Adding/removing windows components seems to have no effect. As does
reinstalling outlook.

Any suggestions?
