Outlook RPC/HTTP Issue

I posted this issue to the SBS discussion for a week so I am trying here. I
have also posted this to VMWare to no avail.

Running SBS 2003 standard and have been using Outlook RPC for years without
issue, both with Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007. I have been running Windows
7 RC as a virtual machine since it was released and had no problems using
Outlook 2007 RPC/HTTPS.

I have just installed the Windows 7 Pro RTM (from the MS Partner Program) as
a virtual machine and Outlook 2007, everything the same (as best I can tell)
as the RC. When Outlook opens and requests the password, I enter
domain>\<userid> and the password, but I am immediately prompted to re-enter
the password. I then get a seperate popup - outlook is unable to connect to
proxy server error code 0. Therre are no errors or warning on the server
event logs.

If I open a VPN connection to the server (using the same url address as the
cert) Outlook connect fine to Exchange. The computer is a member of the
domain.

I have been over the settings a dozen times, compared them the settings to
the Win 7 RC installation which still works fine, I have imported the server
certificate to Trusted Root Publishers. I have used MMC to verify the cert
placement and reviewed the cert. I have tried both Basic and NTLM
authentication. The Connections settings contain the correct info in both
the https://fqdn and Only conenct to proxy... msstd:fqdn, and I have verified
the fqdn against the fqdn in the cert.

Both Win 7 virtual machines are running on the same host. I have not tried
uninstalling Outlook and reinstalling. All Updates for Windows and Office
have been installed. Any ideas would be appreciated.
