Outlook Running On Vista

John Newton

I am trying to set up Outlook to work on my new Vista but several things will not work. (1) I cannot find a "Send" button on the Menu Toolbar, nor in the "Customise" for that Toolbar. (2) When writing a test message Outlook does not call up Word as my text editor. (3) I understand there is a method of getting non-Vista Windows programmes to work in Vista but cannot find it. Help please John

1) Do you have a mail account configured already?
2) What happens when you try?
3) Which version of Outlook are we talking about here?

Please inform the administrator or moderators of your FUDforum to fix
their forum-to-Usenet gateway. Their forum posts are 1 physical line
per paragraph and assume the reader application will perform automatic
logical line wrapping. The result is their posts consist of single very
long lines that are hundreds of characters long. Newsgroups posts
should physically line-wrap at 76 characters, or less. They must also
be under 998 characters in maximum length to be RFC compliant. Ask your
FUDforum admin or moderator to be polite when gatewaying their posts to
Usenet by reformatting their posts before dumping them in newsgroups.

(1) You cannot send until you have configured an e-mail account through
which Outlook can send.

(2) Are to *guess* as to WHICH version of Outlook that you use? Since
you don't mention the version of Outlook, the navigation through the
menus and dialogs cannot be provided. Things change in different
versions hence why there are different versions. You will need to check
the configuration options in Outlook to see which new-mail editor you
selected to use in Outlook. For integration to work, the version of
Outlook and Word must match with each other. Since you don't mention
which version of Outlook and Word you have, no one can see you have them
matched up in version.

(3) "Non-Vista Windows programmes". And what might those be? Have you
used the included help in Vista to search on "compatibility mode"?
Windows XP had it so I suspect that Vista also has it (I have no desire
or need to waste time with Vista to have a copy to tell you how to use
its included help system). Since no details were mentioned about what
problem you are having running an unidentified program on Vista, you
could read the KB articles at Microsoft's support knowledgebase. One
such search result there is http://tinyurl.com/63b3hk.

Outlook 2000 is not supported on Vista. Only 2003 and 2007.

Outlook 2000 MIGHT be able to run on Vista if you install it in
Corporate/Workgroup mode.
