Outlook Seach does not work - indexing stays on 0 files.

The search feature in Outlook refuses to work - always 0 results - the
indexing seems to fail as well - 0 files are indexed.

have you reset the index?
Go to the Control Panel, System and Maintenance category, Indexing Options.
From the Indexing options dialog, choose Advanced, then Rebuild. This will
rebuild the instant search index.
