outlook send preferences

When I send a large attachment, the send status box keeps
on adding more send/receive tasks, and the percentage
complete keeps on dropping from 100% to 50% to 33% to 25%
every time another task is added. why does this happen
and how do I get it to stop?

You may have your send/receive interval set too short.
