Outlook send/receive "unknown error" 0X8004060C

In trying to retrieve email messages, I'm getting an error message saying
"unknown error" 0X8004060C, which won't allow messages to be retrieved into
inbox.
Also, cannot delete existing messages already in inbox.
Any suggestions???

You don't state what version of Outlook you are using or what your email
environment is (Exchange, POP3, etc.) but here is a Microsoft link regarding

Also note that if you're using Plaxo, it can cause this problem/error
message as well.
