If I am not on a server, can I still use Outlook? I need to access my new
Hotmail address from it, I think... George

Only a few users are running a server version of Windows and using
Outlook on it. Outlook should work just fine on a server version of
Windows (which you did not bother to mention).

And what happens when you actually do try to access Hotmail using an
undentified version of Outlook on the unidentified server version of
Windows?

If it is a freebie Hotmail account, you will need to install the Outlook
Connector plug-in (available from Microsoft's download site) and also
convert an old MSN Hotmail account into a Windows [Hotmail] Live account
(it will be an option or link on the webmail page access to your
account).

Yes. Outlook runs just fine on home PCs, in general.

Why do you believe you need Outlook to access a Hotmail account?
