Outlook should allow the copying of individual folders and email .

Outlook should allow the copying of individual folders and e-mail rather than
forcing use of the ever expanding .pst file. I need, for instance, the
ability to isolate and duplicate certain client folders and all e-mail in
them for compliance purposes, and there is no practical way to do this that I
know of.

Various options include use of Archive, MS OL backup addin, third party OL
backup apps, Create a new pst and copy whatever to this, etc.
I assume, if for compliance, you allready have a backup regime.

Yes, I have plenty of backups and archives of the full .pst file. This is
exactly what I'm saying is NOT what I need.

Can you be specific? If so, I'd be grateful. I do have a complete backup
regime that includes two backups of the full .pst file. But if there is a
way to back up a single Outlook folder that I've created, and all its e-mail
contents so that these could be accessed or printed out without using the
full .pst file, could you let me know what it is? Thank you very much.

The only way to save a backup of a single folder is to create a new PST,
copy the folder in question into it, and save that PST.

This is one possibility http://www.synchpst.com/
Whilst aimed at synching you may note that you are able to select the
specific folders, which are created if not present on the target pst.
You would still have to open the pst used, in OL, to print.
Hope this helps
