Outlook shut down automaticallly

Recently, for no apparent reason outlook will shut down
automatcally after opening another programme. For exemple
if I open outlook as my first programme everything is OK
or if I'd opened Internet Explorer as my first programme,
then tried to open outlook it opens for a moment and then
shuts down immediately. Any ideas what has happen to
suddenly create this situation. I run Windows XP Pro and
Office 2002/XP, hardware OK with plenty of RAM and HD etc..
