Outlook slow after appling SP2 for Office 2003

Paul

Has anyone else noticed that Outlook 2003 runs slowly after appling SP2 for
Office 2003? By slowly I mean it takes a extra second to switch folders,
scroll in the month view of the calendar, and open mail.
Removing SP2 solved the problem and the slow down has happened on three
different systems.

Paul,

Did you figure out the issue you are having? My users are having the same
problem since I applied SP2 domain wide.

Thank you.

Paul,

How did you remove SP2?
I have looked at MS site and asked questions on forums but have received no
answer to date. I am experiencing the same problem with EXTREME slowness of
the Outlook program after the SP2 install.

I wanted to prove that SP2 was, indeed, the culprit. However, MS site says
you cannot uninstall the service pack. Only way I see is to uninstall whole
Office 2003 suite and start over.

TIA

Hi,
We have the same problem with Outlook being slow (we run Windows 2000
with Citrix). I think it is down to one of the hotfixes in it. Before
SP2 we got a private hotfix from MS to try and fix an issue we had with
Outlook. When we installed it we found that it caused Outlook to run
slowly or use 100% of the CPU. At the time we just did not apply the
fix. When I read the release notes for SP2 I noticed that this fix is
in it. I have raised a call with Microsoft about it.

There is no way of un-installing just the service pack. It is a start
again am afraid to say.

Hi Matt

I have not found a reason why this is happening but I am hoping that
something in the new patches released Oct 11 will actually help and not hurt
me.

Hi Rick,

The only way to remove SP2 is to completely reinstall Outlook. This is
a pain but it does reslove the issue of slowness.

Which hotfix is the problem? Will you please keep us informed?

As you know I have the same issue on 50 Windows 2000 boxes and it's becoming
a pain in the butt.

Thank you.

Please, please, please... could you write the reference of that fix???
Maybe that can help to isolate the problem, and solve this situation...
I'm also experiencing Outlook 2003 SP2 slowdown in Win2000 servers, terminal
and not, w/ Exchange 2000.
Users are complaining... and I'm going very frustrated of this situation...

To MS guys: "it's not nice to spend nights and weekends to uninstall Office
and install it again up to SP1..."

Thanks.
Bye.
