outlook stalls when loading

Hi,

Hi,
I cannot access Outlook. It was working fine and then just
gets stalled in the loading process. When I do
control;alt;delete there is the usual message that the
program has stopped responding or waiting for my command.
However it does not show that Outlook is the program that
is not working. I have done a repair and reinstall, have
checked for viruses, defragged and scanned my computer.
Nothing seems to work. Can you help me please. I am using
Windows 98 and Outlook 2000. I have since loaded Outlook
Express just to receive email. I appreciate any
assistance.

Ollie,

Do you AVG (Anti Virus Guard) installed? If so, remove the
setting to use the Outlook Express 5 plug in. It could
also be a damaged DBX file (these are where all your
messages are stored- ie: inbox.dbx, sent Items.dbx, etc.)
try renaming these one at a time like inbox.old. When OE
starts, it will re-create the inbox.dbx file. Try this
renaming and restarting one at a time. After they are
recreated, you can just copy them to another foler for
a 'mail backup'.
