Outlook starts permanently deleting messages automatically

Outllook 2003 frequently deletes a message from my Inbox as soon as I open
it, then starts deleting the following messages in the list. I use a
whitelist filter, so every message in my Inbox is coming from an approved
sender. Only a few of these messages end up in the Deleted folder, and the
rest are permanently lost. I have checked my filters, and none should trigger
this kind of action.

It's likely that you have a View setting filter and OL is not deleting
anything. Go to View in Outlook, Arrange by, Current View, change it to
Messages so all messages are shown.

Assuming they are being deleted and not just marked read and hidden by a
view that hides read messages, are you using mcafee antivirus and using
outlook integration?

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked my View settings and they are already
set that way.
