Hi, I'm sorry I won't be able to help you. We are encountering exactly the
same problem since 2 days now. I have already ran through the possible
solutions mentioned in the knowledge-base including setting-up a new OST-file
and repairing the Office 2000 after deleting the .dll's mentioned in the
knowledgebase.

Result : still having problems
We have Exchange 5.5 and Outlook 2000.
Since everybody is encountering the problem I assume the problem is at the
server-side!?

Same exact problem with Exchange Server 2000 and Outlook 2000 on one of out
laptops. I havve gone through the MS article and perfomed every step and the
problem still exists. It synchs up to the same point in the inbox everytime
and then throws the error. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
in advance.

Hi, we solved it by preventing outlook to synchronise forms. In Outlook 2000
you can do this under
Tools -> Options -> Mail Service -> Offline Folder Settings -> Synchronize
forms

This solution only goes when you don't have to synchronise forms ofcourse!

Well I wish that were the case for me. I have removed the .PST and created a
new profile and new .PST. I then made the chnages you described below and
low and behold it still throws the error. I am getting quite sick of this as
the user needs offline access to his email yet I have not found a solution to
this problem for almost a week now. Nothing Microsoft has offered has helped
either. I am beginning to think more and more of a switch to a more friendly
"open" OS and its' tools and programs due to these constant problems. Anyone
with any info on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Robert,

I understand that the problem is only on one laptop, no? (In our company
every portable had the problem!) If this is the case than eather the problem
is with the locally installed outlook-client (re-install????) or with the
specific mailbox.

have you tried to completely close the mailbox on the server and than set-up
a new one for your portable-user.
Since your working with a PST you can easily make sure you have all mails
(temporarily) on the portables pst-file, than close the mailbox en open a
newone.

I know this doesn't look to be a very professional solution(if it is a
solution in the first place) but work-arounds are my speciality!!

What do you think?

Unfortunately it looks like this is the way it is going to go. I am going to
use ExMerge and do a backup of the mailbox and drop it to a .pst. Wipe out
the mailbox and then remerge the data. ExMerge should get rid of any corrupt
messages in the mailbox according to the documentation so I am hoping that
will solve things. I'll keep ya posted.
