Outlook Today Messages column

What is this column used for in Outlook2003? In 2000 it showed which
folders had unread messages in them and you could click on a folder name and
be switched to that folder, but it doesn't seem to show anything in 2003.
If in fact it doesn't do anything, can it be removed?

If it doesn't show you the folders containing messages, with a link to those
folders, it's not configured correctly. You have to put the folders you
want displayed in via Customize Outlook Today.

I had done that and the folders I wanted were displayed, but they didn't
show if any messages were in them and clicking on them just caused Outlook
Today to blink. I tried putting them in again and now Outlook Today fills
every line that doesn't have a folder selected (15 lines total).

In the lefthand column in the "All Mail Folders" panel Outlook Today shows
up twice. Is this normal or is it a problem?

The folder list on the Outlook Today page will show only the count of new
messages, even when it;s working correctly. However, your Outlook Today
registry keys (which is where the Outlook Today information is kept) appear
scrambled. I've had than happen to me before, too, and the most expedient
way to correct it was regedit. See if something here helps:
