Outlook Today page should include Inbox contents

Does anyone know a way to customize the Outlook Today page to show Inbox
contents (email headers, email preview pane)? There is plenty of screen real
estate at 1024x768 resolution to build such a comprehensive summary page (as
it stands, it is just empty space waiting to be filled).
