Hello. When I get an email it sometimes goes to 2 pages due to replies. I
don't want anything but the first page. When I now click PRINT there is no
option to only say 1 Page or 1st page. HELP!! I'm wasting printer paper like
crazy. I hate it.

Highlight the text that you wish to print. Choose Print
from the File drop down menu, and place a check in the
Print selection field. OK

Chuck,
Thanks for that tip, but that's really not a very acceptable solution. The
PRINT function for every program, allows me to check the box that says "Print
Current Page" or something like that. The previous version of Outlook allowed
that as did Outlook Express. Why on earth can I now NOT check "Print Current
Page" and just get 1 page of printed material. I hate it when a feature is
taken away, that worked just fine. Or maybe someone at Microsoft just
"missed" that in the new version.

I'll try that, but in the meantime I hope there's a better solution or I'm
reverting back to my old version.

Chuck's solution is good. There is also, on my print dialogue box, an
area in the bottom left corner, called "Print Range" and gives a space
to put in the page range which for you could be "1".

This may well be printer specific or somehow or another tied to the
printer driver and not Outlook.

Also, see the Options tab. This is printer specific. For my HP4P there
is cool option to print mulitple pages per page. Printing longer emails
4 pages per page (or more) is also a good way to minimise paper.

All that being said, if these options are not there for you, I suspect
there is no other better solution and since this clearly important to
you, you should consider moving back to your old version so that you can
do what you want. Don't let your computer control your life. Going
backwards may well add other problems to your life (compatibility with
rest of Office, mail security, etc.) but at least you can print 1 page.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Hello Rob:

Thanks for the note. Yes, what you see is printer specific I think.

When I select "Memo Style" for the print format, over on the right under
COPIES, it says "Numer of pages"...however, the choice is ALL, EVEN,
ODD.....seems to me that should be a number like 1 or ALL, which should
probably be the default.

Interestingly enough, almost every single thing on the Print Dialog Box, is
"grayed out" - not sure why that is.

What's even funnier, is if I actually open up the message to a "full scree"
view of it, and I launch the Print function, the dialog box is totally
different than just printing from the view of the email. Again, this is only
occurring in the new version of Outlook, which came with Office Provessional
XP. The old version of Outlook (previous) printed that same from either view
(inbox list or open to full screen).

Okay, I guess I've beat this into the ground, but honestly it is annoying as
heck. Can you ask a Developer over there to please "put it back" and I'll be
sure to send about 3 dozen cases of Jolt cola for the group. Not to mention a
sleeping bag for the office.

Thanks.

I and this forum are NOT Microsoft.

I was referring to what I have, Outlook 2003, which is Part of Office
2003, which is newer than the version you have. Perhaps that means they
have fixed the problem you see.

Try a different printer driver, in any event.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Most of what you are describing can be contributed to the type of
e-mail message you are trying to print. When printing an html or rich
text message my print dialog box is normal with options to select which
pages to print etc. When printing a plain text message my options
change and I can't select a particular page but can select odd or even.
This is true for Office XP as well as Office 2003.

Different program = different options.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal

After furious head scratching, OlinBost asked:

| Outlook Express has this option why not Outlook?

-OUTLOOK - WHY CAN'T I JUST PRINT 1 PAGE OF AN EMAIL
ANYMORE?-

THIS MIGHT HELP

1. Please open the message
2. Click "Edit" then chose "Edit Message".
3. Click "Format" then choose "HTML"
4. Then there you go you can try to print just one page....

Please inform me if this works as it worked with mine.

That method doesn't work here without adding some additional steps. After
#3...

4. Save the message in HTML format.

5. Open the resulting .htm file in a browser.

6. Print from there.

A simpler work-around--for me, anyway--is to print to XPS Document Writer,
(click Properties and enable "Automatically open XPS documents using the XPS
viewer"... this should be necessary only once), then when the email is
displayed, use the XPS viewer's File - Print capabilities.

In in outlook 2007, Select the email (double click so it goes ful
screen)

--that has multiple replies, etc..

Once open - select Other Actions - Drop down and select VIEW i
BROWSER

It will have a pop-up, select OK, The it will open in most likely I
browser.

Then select Print and then you can choose page 1-3 , selection, etc..

It is a bug for sure in outlook 2007 or MS- just plain disabled it.

I am confused and hoping someone might be able to help me. Running Vista
Business 32 bit and Outlook 2007. I do have the ability to choose what
pages to print in an email, fully open or just viewing. All of my users
have the ability as well.

The other day, a user reported a crash in outlook. She rebooted and
came up and since then Outlook has not been the same. I repaired it. I
uninstalled and reinstalled. I fix one problem for the user to report
another.

Today she reports that she can no longer choose what page to print in
Outlook 2007. I noted that the message is no longer showing in HTML
format (in fact its showing no message type at all in properties);
however, when she forwarded the message to me on my machine, I can
choose to print one page only and I can see the message type as HTML.

Short of reinstalling the OS, does anyone have any ideas on what else I
might check? Someone mentioned the printer - uninstall and reinstall her
local printer drivers maybe?

Thanks for your insight.
