Outlook will not shutdown

For whatever reason, I have an installation of Office 2000
where Outlook will not shutdown after hours of use and by
closing using the X button at the upper-right corner of
the window. I had already reinstalled after a complete
uninstall of the entire Office suite.

Any suggestions?
