Outlook Will Not Start

Molly Sabatino

I downloaded Outlook 2001 for the mac. I put the folder on my hard
drive. I click on the icon to open it. The first time it installs items then
I get an informational window and I click agree.

Then the logo window opens. Then the whole program shuts down.
When I click to open it again I get the logo window and then a shut
down.

I tried deleting everything with outlook for a new install and the same
thing happens. I have OS X 10.2.8 and OS 9.2. What can I do to make
Outlook work?

Hi Molly!

First, if you're able to boot into Mac OS 9 on your machine, that would
offer a better environment for troubleshooting.

In either case, I would start by deleting any "Exchange" files and folders
found in /System Folder/Preferences. You'll find two or three there. You'll
need to set up your user account again, but you won't lose any information.

Also, it never hurts to rebuild your Mac OS 9 or Classic Desktop. From Mac
OS X this can be done using the Classic System Preference pane.

Hope this helps! bill
