I've moved them, turned off the computer, shut off wireless modem, turned off
firewall called embarqmail. I can get on line and I can receive mail. Nothing
goes out....Thanks

Do you have comcast cable internet? If so, they (and probably other
ISPs) block your outgoing mail port (typically 25) they recommend you
switch it to 587 but that never works either. The only solution I
have found is to use their SMTP server but that limits your relays
per
day. If you have Yahoo DSL (at&t SBC or whoever they are now) you
can
request them to unblock it. I beat my head against the wall for
hours
on this one until i figured out that they do this. It's wrong.

Thanks for the reply.
After going into the tools steeingsI have embarq dsl and have been told it
is a corrupt outlook or I must empty my deleted items for it to work. This is
the second episode of not sending and I don't know what we did the first time
to fix it. I had attached pictures and they wouldn't send. Deleted the ones
with the pictures and tried a message with only test in the subject line. The
test email immediatly show up in the inbox with the notification 554
authentication failed must log in.
I am stumped.

Whoever told you this lied.

Configure Outlook to authenticate properly to your outgoing server. That's
in the account properties dialogue. Your ISP should have a Help page that
describes the appropriate settings. In fact, 15 seconds at Embarq.com found
it for me:
