Outlook Won't Send Photos/Jpegs

Hi, I can get outlook to send word documents, but not
photos/jpegs. Even if I resize or zip the document it
won't go through. Usually Outlook gets hung up trying to
send the jpeg and then takes so long that I get an error
message telling me I've timed out. When I contacted my
provider they weren't much help at all and evetually
advised me that it was an outlook problem. Any insight?
