Outlook won't start due to proplus.msi installer

Dan

Since about a month ago, I can't start Outlook. It loads,
then a dialog comes up saying "Windows installer", and it
goes through a short install routine which asks for file
proplus.msi, which I've searched for and don't have. This
is an OEM installation.
It won't any other input and clicking on the Cancel
reverses the install and closes the program. I can't get
to any of the menus or interupt it in any way.
I downloaded the official patches and updates to see if
they would help, but running them produces exactly the
same problems - "can't find proplus.msi". Again the only
option are to cancel and quit.
I've virus scanned and there is no problem. Did the
Windows auto update do this to me, I wonder?
Pls help.
