Outlook won't start

I'm having trouble with getting Outlook started. It brings up an error report " Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. Were sorry about the inconvience. Send error report? Don't send error report?
I'm using windows XP, in the background I can see the emails downloading but I cannot access them because of the error message.

this is just a ps to my message, I have no error code numbers or anyother indication of what the error is and no details box either.
