[Outlook/Word 2003] Modify a theme

S

Silivren Eryn-Duin

Hi,

Is there a way to add new themes, or modify existing ones, or even delete
existing ones? I do not talk about stationaries, but themes...

Thanks

Office does not use theming. Check with theme/skin sites on the INternet to
see if someone has found a way to alter the theme. It uses Windows themes.

Sure it does. But Word calls "Theme" what others call "Stationaries", but
those are two different things.

An exemple of Themes in Outlook 2003, using Word as a Word editor...

- Afternoon
- Arctic
- Axis
- Blends
- Blue Calm

Office 2003 / Word 2003 are like stationaries, email templates with a
background picture and font information.

But the difference is: with Outlook 2003 it is impossible to change the
stationary of the current email message, but you can change the theme.

So I would like to add new themes / delete the ones I do not want /
change somes.

The themes are in format / theme menu.

Thanks

Oh, you mean the old Themes - sorry, i mistook your request as one for
skins.

You can create your own in Front Page if I am not mistaken. Check with the
folks in a frontpage newsgroup.

Why do you say "old"? It is the way stationaries work in Office 2003. The
only thing we can change while composing a message. (stationaries can only
be setup for new messages, not for current one)

So that's strange you called them "old" themes.

With an html editor, you mean I just have to create an html file and put
it in the theme folder somewhere on my computer?

Thanks

Correct - you can save any HTML file to the Stationeries folder and it is
available as Stationery.

I talked about themes, not stationaries (those are two different things in
outlook word 2003) but I guess this works the same way.

Hi Silivren,

To modify a Word theme you can use Frontpage rather
than Word
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;235511&FR=1

In Word if you look at Tools=>Options=>General=>[Email Options]
in Word and click on the [Theme] button it brings up the
Format=>Theme box but now displays those that have been
adapted for Stationery as well as the usual list.

They are 'old' in the sense that MS hasn't done much to
provide new ones for Word for quite awhile and doesn't
offer them on http://office.microsoft.com/templates
for example.

It is kinda strange that stationaries are newer than themes but that it is
impossible to change a stationary while we are composing an email, but we
can change a theme...
