Outlook XP autocorrect spelling isn't working

The spell checker in outlook xp 2002 doesn't work any more for some reason,
have office xp 2002.
Spell checker does not pick up on mis-spellings nor does the autocorrect
spelling facility.
Not sure why this has happened.

Probably redundant but... in Outlook... you clicked, tools, options, spell
checker and checked/set your options?
