Outlook XP constantly retreives info from XCHG2000

This is so annoying that I am being interrupted about 7
times during the allaboration of a 5 paragraph e-mail.
Each time this happens I must wait for about 2 full
minutes. This just started to happen very suddenly.
Everything was OK before. I seem to be the only user to
whom this is happening.

Thanks for any help on this issue.
