Outlook XP Menu Locks

Odd issue has just popped up. Outlook XP on a few different computers this
week all ahve gotten the same issue. While working in a new email, or while
a few emails or drafts are open, the toolbars and menus all become locked.
Can't click on any of them. Hot keys like Ctrl + C don't work either. The
only option is to close down all of the drafts or messages opened to get it
working again. This just started this past week and is happening on multiple
machines.

What is weird, we have Access 97 on these computers as well. It too is
doing the same behaviour while creating queries. Everything is locked while
changing a value in the Where field. Only way to get that working is to hit
the Escape key (hitting Escape key in Outlook XP closes the message window
without giving options to save the message as a draft).

These programs are all on Windows XP SP3 computers, and we do not use any
server software for Outlook.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening and how to fix it?
Could the out of sequence IE patch from Microsoft be having an affect on
these softwares? The problems seems to be about the same time as when that
update was installed. We are also having other problems with Word XP and
2000 as well. It is odd that so much Office software is now having issues at
the same time, and across different versions.
