Outlook XP Problem on WinXP SP2

Help! On our Windows XP Pro SP2 computers running Office
XP we have begun to experience an odd problem. The users
have to change to a different folder to 1) receive email,
2) send email so that an email leaves the Outbox, or have
a folder's contents updated. When the user changes to a
different folder, emails are delivered to the Inbox
immediately, and emails still in the Outbox are sent.

This is not happening on all the XP SP2 installs and
seems to occur some time after the SP2 install. Any help
anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That isn't really a fix - as it gets Outlook to check every 60 seconds
- rather than instantly via UDP push notification from the exchange
server. (IIRTC)

We (and others) have exactly the same issue and it appears to be due
to the XPsp2 update and the firewall. Even with the firewall disabled
it does not allow UDP packets from Exhange to the client.

Stopping the Windows Firewall service and restarting outlook and
everything works perfectly. So in effect, turning the firewall off
does not actually turn it off entirely....

So heres hoping for a fix to this....

You should also try looking for this article; it works:

OFF)

This is due to the built-in firewall blocking a UDP event from Exchange
server to client. This UDP event travels on an arbitrary port > 1023.
Assuming that your desktops have are at Office XP (SP1) or later, you can
try the registry edit mentioned in:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305572

This did not help in our environment
