Outlook XP with Vista?

D

DH

Because Vista does not use "Protected Storage", the passwords in Outlook XP
are not remembered. (Good move Bill) Outlook will remember passwords until
it is closed. What a pain in the butt.

I suspect that others have addressed this problem. Is there a solution?

TIA,

Dave H.

No! Only a upgrade to 2003/2007 solves that problem.

Because this is probably a problem for a number of people, I believe that
you are wrong. Someone, if not me will find a work around.

MS strikes again. I believe that MS sees this problem as an opportunity to
sell. And some wonder why MS is badmouthed! Unbelievable! Only MS would
make a product that is incompatible with its own products, so that they can
make another billion.

I am not aware of a solution and I don't expect one - any fixes will come
from users as Outlook 2002 is out of support. If you want to use Outlook
2002, you'll have to live with the bugs.

Outlook 2002 is old, out of support, insecure. Those who are unwilling or
unable to upgrade can use the free Mail and Calendar tools included in
Vista. The Calendar has most of Outlook 2007's calendar features. Outlook
is not required for sync and the new Live Mail Desktop client does spell
check as you type... this eliminates 3 of the reasons soho users use
outlook.

To be fair, that only addresses an official fix. Clever users might figure
something out eventually... although since it's broken because of registry
issues, it may not be fixable.
