Outlook

I recently install Outlook on my win 98 machine.
Outlook works but I have to click on tools send/receive/
in order to retrieve my email. Outlook express would
automatically retrieve email upon startup. Can Outlook be
setup to do this?
I was told the answer to this is yes, but given no clue as
to how. It's implied that I also would appreciate more
than just Yes.
Can anyone tell me how to make Outlook automatically
retrieve email upon startup?

Read the posts, please.
There is a perfectly good reason you got only a "Yes." Your question cannot
be answered because you haven't provided the necessary information and we
can't read minds.
Required information: Outlook version, mail account type, connection type.

Ok, sorry I don't know what you mean by "read the posts".
I did read the reply and all's it said was yes. Only you
have told me what I need to provide. I hope it's all here.
Anyway, I am running win 98se , Outlook 2002
(10.2627.2625) I have comcast cable modem (broadband
connection) I don't know what the mail account type is,
but it mentions something about POP3.
Is there additional information I need to provide?

Thanks,

Then all you should need to do is set an automatic polling interval in Tools
Send/Receive Settings > Define Send/Receive Groups. Do not set it below 10
minutes.

Russ,

That worked but why not set it below 10 minutes? I would
like to receive mail sooner than ever 10 minutes.

Thanks,

Tim

Such settings are not recommended. They put an unnecessary strain on mail
servers and can create conflicting polling requests that can damage your
Send/Receive Group or even your account settings. 10 minutes is the
recommended minimum.
