Outlook

Just installed Office 2000 Professional. Outlook will not run but comes up
with an error message about a missing "OMI9.DLL".

Have searched and found the file in the Office Setup. Put the "OMI9.DLL"
first in the Office folder and then in the System32 folder. Still the same
error result.

Turned off both Norton Antivirus and ZoneAlarm Pro, uninstalled Office 2000
then reinstalled to see if that would solve the problem. No go.

Anybody have any suggestions on how I can get rid of this error message and
get Outlook to run? The spell checker in Office is working well with Outlook
Express but there are certain times I need to have access to Outlook.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Susan and thanks for giving me a possible answer.

FYI I am running XP Pro with all updates, patches, fixes, etc. Sorry I
didn't mention that in my original post.
My system is a 1.7 AMD with 512 megs memory.

I'll check out your suggestion and get back to the group.

Thanks again. I was just about to re-post, filling in some info I didn't
include in the original message.

Hello again, Susan:

Printed the file pertaining to my problem with Outlook 2000 and followed
instructions. Did not help.

I am coming to the point of trying a repair install of XP Pro to see if I
can get to the root of the problem. Nothing else seems to help.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Well, Lo and Behold, I did the first part of the 2nd pointer you directed me
to and found out that Outlet Express was set in a "Compatibility" mode.
Unchecked that box and Outlook fired right up.

Thanks for staying with me on this one. Greatly Appreciated.

Regards,

Stu
