Outlook2003 times out waiting for smtp server (0x80042110B)

When trying to send emails from Outlook 2003 to smtp.comcast.net when
travelling, the above error message is returned; receiving emails works fine.
Since Comcast claims they do not support Outlook, they won't try to fix it.
They claim it works fine for Outlook Express. Has anyone seen this and is
there a fix for it?

I found the answer. The incoming port must be changed from 110 to 995, the
outgoing port must be changed from 25 to 465, and both ports require SSL
authentication.
