Outlook2007 - POP3 - SMTP - NO SSL possible? -

Hi.

When configuring my mail I realized that the option to use SSL for outgoing
mail no longer is there. This option however is available in Outlook 2003.
I need SSL for SMTP on port 465 as I am using Google Hosted mail.

No problem with Outlook 2003, but with Outlook2007 there is no more button
to choose SSL for SMTP(Outgoing)
Is this by design or is it just missing by accident(bug?)?
My version is 12.0.4407.1004 with German Language pack.

What happens if you create a new profile and then add the email account
to it? Do you get the option of SSL?

I just took a look here and did have the option of SSL available.
However, I remember setting up someone else's B2TR for POP3 two days
ago, and his Outlook in fact did not offer SSL for SMTP.

Hi Patrick.

Crearting a new profile does not change a thing. No SSL for SMTP.
My used version also is BTR.

How or where should i try TLS, I don`t see a option for this anywhere.

Looks like BTR has lost SSL for SMTP? - Or maybe a problem with German
Language Pack.

Oh...German language pack in an English B2TR?
Have you installed the full 500 MB German B2TR?
The option should be there. I am looking at it right now. What options
do you have in your screen?

This was an integrated installation of Vista and Office27k.
Vista-installation is us.
When this integrated installation sees Input locale = German it decides to
install German Office27k. (Does not make too much sense, in fact, this is
wrong)
So this is no step by step installation by myself.
Unfortunately due to this I cannot simply uninstall Office and try it with
an new installed Office us.
I would have to make a complete new install, Vista and Office.
I most probably will do an install completely in english and see wheher SSL
for SMTP is available, but takes me some time.
Or maybe I choose German for Vista too at the beginnning.

Hmm, As you see the SSL-option for SMTP German Office on english vista might
be the cause for this.

Get the English and German B2TR patches and run them. See what happens.
If they are already installed, they'll say so.
