Outlooks goes to sleep..doesn't check for new mail

We are running Exchange 2000, I think it even happened with 5.5, and Outlook
2000 for the most part. New messages do not show up when you have Outlook
open when we know new mail is waiting. As soon as you click on a different
folder, move from Inbox to Sent Items, the new mail shows up. It's like
Outlook is sleeping and you have to do an action in it to check for new mail
on the Exchange. 2 locations doing the exact same thing. Not everyone is
effected and even the effected people change from time to time. I'm out of
quesses. Thanks

The problem you're having is that the information (called "UDP packets")
that Exchange is sending to notify Outlook of changes to your mailbox is
being blocked by something - probably the Windows Internet Connection
Firewall. You can set the registry values in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q305572 (Outlook
2002) or http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q304849
(Outlook 2000) to cause Outlook to poll Exchange rather than waiting for
notifications.
