Outlook's mysterious disappearing act

S

Susan

Last night, Outlook worked with no difficulty. This
morning, it has apparently disappeared. When I look in
the "Programs" listing I can see 2,000+ KB for Access,
PowerPoint, etc., but Outlook only has 57 KB. For the
past month or more, Word also has had a problem, in that
I cannot open a Word document by clicking on the document
itself, only by opening Word first, then opening the
document. I have the original installation SW to do a re-
install, but I am concerned that doing so will wipe out
all my Outlook information, contacts, etc. Since I do
all of my schooling online as well as information
regarding my contract work, losing this information would
be disastrous. Other odd things have been happening also.
Any suggestions as to why MS Office seems to be
disintegrating are urgently anticipated.

If you are running 2003 - not activating product can cause
these issues also.

Do a repair indeed. Your Outlook information won't go lost (just like your
Word, Excel and PowerPoint files won't go lost either). You can always make
a backup of your pst-file.

No, this doesn't modify the Outlook.exe file size. The file got damaged
somehow or got infected with a virus.
