Over-ride styles for MS Word headings - How?

RichardOnRails

Hi,

I looked through Office 2003 MS Word Help, but I was unable to find
any info on how to modify the default styles for Heading1, 2, etc.

Can anyone point me to documentation for that?

Thanks in Advance,
Richard

I found some documentation on modifying styles, which I've applied
successfully. Now I have not only Heading 2 listed, but "Heading 2
plus 18 pt", and so on for Heading 3 and 4.

I like to save these new styles in the default template. Ideally, I
like to delete the originals, as well, though that's a minor issue.
So far, I haven't found a topic that addresses that issue.

If you can suggest a URL for the "saving new styles to default
template", I'd be most appreciative. In the meantime, I'll keep
search the Office documentation and the Web generally.

BTW, I'm running Office 2003 over Win XP-Pro/SP2.

TIA,
Richard

Hey Jay,

Great response! Thanks.

BTW, thinking about future questions:
1. I book marked the Word MVP Home site
2. Opened that home page
3. Entered "style" in the search textbox ... got 97 hits
4. Hit Ctrl-F in Firefox 2.x and entered "change" in the search
textbox
5. Clicked next" three times and got the hit you referenced.

I added this in case others, like me, forgot or didn't know how good
the MVP sites are as a faster way to get answers for Microsoft-product
usage.

Best wishes,
Richard
