OWC 11 - Using OWC 11 without installing Office 2003

Hi,
I'd like to know how can I use OWC 11 without installing Office 2003. I know
that installing just OWC 11 I can use them "read only". But, what if I have
the license but I can't do the deployment? Is there any way to use "full
functioning" OWC 11 without forcing me to deploy Office 2003.

Thanks

Lucas

You may be able to create a licensing package file. This file allows full
use of the product with the licensing implication that you will eventually
install office on the client.

I've got links on my website to setup the lpk (link provided below). Lpk is
only supported in enterprise versions of the office suite of products

Hi Scott,

Thank you for posting in MSDN managed newsgroup!

You can obtain the office web component 11.0 from Microsoft.com. It is free of charge. Please go to:
Office 2003 Add-in: Office Web Components
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...2c-402e-4f72-97a5-e0fd290d4b76&displaylang=en

However, so far as I know, OWC needs the Office application to work.

Hi, Thanks Alvin for your answer.
So, from your point of view Wei-Dong Xu, there is no way to use OWC 11 full
functionality without deploying Office to each workstation? This can be a
problem with big installations where you buy the license but is very
difficult to make a massive deployment.
What about Alvin's answer?

Thanks

Lucas

Hi Lucas,

Thank you for replying!

So far as I know, This issue is by design. Office web component needs the related office application to run.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Alvin,

I have had good luck with 1&1. They are offering FREE business grade hosting without ads for 3 years. I did not even have to supply a credit card number. I was pretty amazed. Their URL is: http://www.1and1.com

I also really like NetFirms and have a number of sites with them [http://www.netfirms.com].

All the best,

Ron
