Package for CD - Error Accessing ^0

I'm running Powerpoint 2003 under Windows 2000 and I get
the following error when I use the Package For CD:

Error Accessing ^0.

I have no idea was is causing this error and how to
correct it. Any help is appreciated.

Lizzie,
Try doing it as a package to folder and then moving the folder contents to
your CD. Since you are on Win 2000, PowerPoint doesn't know how to access
your CD. (For others: I recommend always packaging to a folder instead of
straight to the CD. This way, you have a back up and don't have to go
through the whole process again if you get a bad blank CD.)

On the other hand, the software should have an error trap and spew a
meaningful message, like, "This feature is not available in Windows 2000.
Use the Package to Folder option instead." I'm wondering if the error is
occurring at some other point of the process.

This may sound real stupid -- (what does that Forrest Gump
guy say..) but where do I find "Packaging to Folder" --
is that "File - Save AS .. Presentation" I'm lost!

When you do the Package for CD, there is a button at the bottom of the
window that says "Copy to Folder..." click that button and you can save to
folder instead of CD.

Actually, this was the option I was using when I received
the original error message: "Error Accessing ^0". Your
right the message is not meaning. What is really
interesting is PowerLink Plus -- handles the files/project
without any problem.

Well, that's very gratifying to hear. :>)) Is there anything unusual in
your presentation? Are you linking to other files, like PDF, DOC, XLS,
etc.?

Of course PowerLinkPlus works! If you have it, use it instead of Package. It
is much clearer in its error handling.

Only unusual file is the windows media audio. But even
when I delete the links to these files the Package to
Folder still would not work.

Sonia,

On my Windows 2000 installation, I get no option to package to CD. Only a
button to copy to a folder. So, Lizzie. Are you saying you got a copy to CD
button?

In one of her replies Lizzie said that the error occurs when she clicks on
Package to Folder. It seems that PowerPoint is encountering an error that
it can't contend with. But thanks for mentioning that the Package for CD
button doesn't appear if you're running Windows 2000. That's a very good
thing and I wasn't aware of it. :>))
