Page Borders

Gill,
You need to change the settings for the page border to position the inside
edge of the page border relative to the page margin rather than relative to
the outside of the page, which is Word's default
Place the insertion point somewhere within the page whose border settings
you want to change
Click Borders And Shading on the Format menu
Select the Page Borders tab
Click Options to display the Borders and Shading Options dialog box for Page
Borders
Under "Measure From," click Text to position the inside edge of the page
border relative to the page margin rather
If necessary, change the page border margins to at least 10 pts; the page
border margins are adjustable between 0 and 31 points only; 31 pts. is a
distance of about 0.5 inches; dependent upon the printer used, you may have
to experiment with the aid of Print Preview until you get the results you
want

You may also find it helpful to switch to print layout view (click Print
Layout on the View menu) and to display the text boundaries (click Options
on the Tools menu, click the View tab and make sure the Text boundaries
check box is checked and click OK)
Now you're able to see where the page borders are relate to the margins and
the edge of the paper.
