Page Number for Appendices (advanced)

N

Nicole L.

OK, I'm savvy on the ways of Heading styles and page numbering and all of
that...
But I had a heading style, based on Heading 1, called Appendix Heading to
use for my (surprise surprise) Appendix Headings.
When I try to do the page numbering on those Appendices to include the A or
B for Appendix A or B and then the "-1" (for page 1 of Appendix A, e.g.), it
does not give me the option to choose my specialized Appendix Heading style
to precede the page number. My only choices are Heading 1 thru Heading 6 (or
9 or something).

In the past I think I have used one of the Heading styles (6 or 9) and
tweaked it to be formatted the same as Heading 1, adding an "Appendix A: ..."
in front of it... but I'm working in someone else's template which they won't
allow me to change like that.

Any work-arounds?
Why doesn't word just simply offer up ALL styles in the dropdown list of
heading styles it lets you choose from to precede the page number? Or why
doesn't it offer it as a Field option we could insert.
Quite annoying - especially when it comes to the Table of Contents!
