Page Number Question

Hello again, MVP-types....

I'd like to get Word to put page numbers that read "Last name, page number"
in the upper-right corner, except on the first page. Is there a way to do
this without getting into section defining?

I've tried header modification, but that puts the number on the first page
(unless of course I'm doing something wrong.)

To make the first page different, go to File -> Page Setup and under the
Layout tab, select "Different first page".
