page numbering word 2002 problem

Everything was rolling along just fine when I noticed my page numbers were no
longer in the bottom footer but had gone to the header. After some fooling
around I'm left with one page number in the header that won't move and no
numbers in the footer they just vanished, this is the first time it has ever
happened to me and I can't figure it out.

have you gone into view-header and footer and changed the page numbers there?
when you want to put the page numbers on the footer, you do have to scroll
down to the bottom of the page, and click into that box.
